Acne and Insecurity
“Yes, I have bad skin. No, you don’t need to point it out to me”
Acne is a problem for almost 80% of teenagers and it is a problem that often is very hard to control even with the right products. I am currently going through the process right now and let me tell you it is not fun.
~sometimes I look around and I see these people complaining about this one pimple that they might have on their forehead or a couple of spots on their cheeks. Everytime I get so frustrated because I know that they actually think that their acne is bad. NO ITS NOT. The acne that is bad is the one that is all over your face and is not controllable. HORMONAL
“If both of your parents had severe acne, either in adolescence or in adulthood, your risk for having acne breakouts may be higher.” (Healthline).
It’s true that genetics largely affect acne. Darn you parents. But there are factors other than genetic that play a large role in acne.
- Diet
- Poor hygiene
- Touching and build up of dirt and oils around the face, neck, and back.
Diet can cause minor acne but if acne is already quite present in a person than diet makes a big difference. If you eat lots of food that contain artificial sugars, dairy, or very fatty foods, breakouts can occur.
Poor hygiene such as not taking showers or washing your face after sweating is a large reason for acne buildup. However, there are SO MANY PEOPLE that shower and wash their face regularly and yet still get acne. It is for this reason that you or anyone else should not judge another persons face no matter how it looks. Minor things like putting your phone to your face and sleeping on the same bed sheets are also things that can be improved if you do have acne.
~ Acne is something that you notice every time you look at the mirror. It’s just there and you feel that it makes you ugly. I personally have felt that my acne makes me look bad and because of this have felt insecure in some moments of my life because of the pimples I had on my face. You HAVE to understand that acne is not the end of the world. It will END and although it feels like forever in time it will pass.
Somethings you can do to try and heal your face faster or treat your acne is buy some skin products and improve your diet. If nothing seems to work go to a local dermatologist.
When building your own routine make sure to have:
- Cleanser
- Toner
- Moisturizer
These three are the most important things to have, do some research on which ones could fit you. Some current ones i’m using right now:
I am no professional and I still have acne so by all means do your own research. However I find these to be pretty good.
Consider your skin type though! These seem to be good for normal to oily skin.
Thanks for your time, hope this helped and you enjoyed.
